They tend to chase small animals.   Overall, Basset Hounds are incredibly sweet dogs with intelligent, kind eyes and long, droopy ears. Their average height at the withers is 38 cm, and they weigh up to 29 kg. Despite their hunting background, they do not require intense physical activity.
