Photography Tips for Breeders
Improve your puppy sales with better photos. Learn about lighting, the "golden hour," and essential camera angles to make your litter stand out.
High-quality visuals are the fastest way to stop a buyer from scrolling. In the United States, professional-looking photos are the standard for reputable breeders. You don't need expensive gear, but you do need natural light. Aim for the "golden hour" shortly after sunrise or before sunset, and never use a harsh flash, as it distorts coat colors and creates a flat, unattractive look.
Try to capture three essential shots for every puppy: a clear facial portrait, a side profile showing their build, and a candid "lifestyle" photo of them playing. Including a short 15-second video is also highly recommended. A video of a puppy responding to its name or playing with a toy proves they are real, healthy, and active, which builds immediate trust.
