How to Safely Transition Your Puppy to a New Food

When you bring a new puppy home from a breeder you found on PuppiesClub, it is crucial to find out exactly what brand and formula of food they are currently eating. Puppies have very sensitive digestive systems, and a sudden change in diet can lead to an upset stomach, diarrhea, and unnecessary stress.

To safely introduce a new brand or formula, you should follow the standard 7-day transition rule. Start by mixing 25% of the new food with 75% of the old food for the first two days. On days three and four, offer a 50/50 mix. By days five and six, increase the ratio to 75% new food and 25% old food. Finally, on day seven, your puppy should be ready to eat 100% of their new diet. If your puppy experiences loose stools at any point, slow down the process and give their stomach a few extra days to adjust.
