German Shepherds are among the smartest and most resilient dogs, which is why they are often chosen as service dogs. They also make excellent guard dogs. Loyal to their families and loving with children, they are large-sized dogs, standing 21–24 inches tall at the shoulder, and therefore feel more comfortable living in a house rather than a small apartment. They are very active, requiring training and energetic play to stay in good shape. Strong and enduring, German Shepherds can be both protectors and companions for you and your family.
